Vanilla Pastry Puffs (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 2 cups plain flour
02 - 1 tablespoon rising agent
03 - 1/4 teaspoon table salt
04 - 1 tablespoon white sugar
05 - 1 big egg
06 - 1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
07 - 1/2 cup full-fat milk
08 - 2 tablespoons plain butter, melted
09 - Cooking oil for deep frying
10 - Icing sugar for topping

# Instructions:

01 - Grab a big bowl and stir the flour, rising agent, salt, and sugar together until they're totally combined.
02 - Take another bowl and beat the egg, vanilla flavoring, milk, and warm butter until everything looks smooth.
03 - Add your wet mix to your dry mix and stir until you get a nice dough. It should feel soft but not super sticky.
04 - Fill a deep pan with enough oil to cover half the pastries and heat it to 175°C (350°F).
05 - Drop spoonfuls of dough into the hot oil carefully. Let them cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they puff up and turn golden.
06 - Take out your pastries and put them on some paper towels to soak up extra oil. Sprinkle lots of icing sugar on top while they're still hot.
07 - Eat them right away with coffee or hot chocolate for a true French experience.

# Notes:

01 - Keep your oil between 170-180°C the whole time you're cooking for the best outcome.
02 - French-style pastry puffs are much airier and softer than the ones from New Orleans.
