Grab a big bowl and stir the flour, rising agent, salt, and sugar together until they're totally combined.

Take another bowl and beat the egg, vanilla flavoring, milk, and warm butter until everything looks smooth.

Add your wet mix to your dry mix and stir until you get a nice dough. It should feel soft but not super sticky.

Fill a deep pan with enough oil to cover half the pastries and heat it to 175°C (350°F).

Drop spoonfuls of dough into the hot oil carefully. Let them cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they puff up and turn golden.

Take out your pastries and put them on some paper towels to soak up extra oil. Sprinkle lots of icing sugar on top while they're still hot.
