Turn your broiler to high and let it warm up.

Spread tomatoes on a baking sheet lined with foil. Put the rack about 6 inches below the heat. Cook until they start to darken and get juicy, about 6-7 minutes. Give the pan a shake now and then for even cooking.

Take them out and wait till they're not hot anymore.

Drain off liquid and dump tomatoes in your food processor. Throw in thyme, oregano, garlic, pepper flakes, and salt. Give it a few quick pulses - you want it chopped fine but not totally smooth.

Cut butter into chunks and drop into your tomato mix. Blend until everything's mixed together, about 25-30 seconds. You might need to scrape the sides down once.

Scoop your tomato butter into a small container with a lid. Eat right away or keep in the fridge for up to a week.
