01 -
Get your oven hot at 350°F. Give your 8½ x 4½-inch loaf tin a good spray with non-stick cooking oil.
02 -
Grab a big bowl and throw in your flour, white sugar, rising powder, and salt.
03 -
In another bowl, beat your milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla together until they're all mixed up.
04 -
Dump the wet stuff into the dry stuff and stir it gently until it's just come together. Don't go crazy mixing it - it should look a bit thin.
05 -
Dump your mix into the greased tin and smooth it out flat.
06 -
Stick it in the oven for 60-70 minutes. It's done when you poke it with a toothpick and only a few bits stick to it, plus the top's turned nice and golden.
07 -
Take your bread out and let it sit in the tin for about 10 minutes. Then carefully pop it out onto a big sheet of baking paper.
08 -
While it's still hot, take your melted butter for the topping and brush it all over.
09 -
In a small bowl, stir together your white sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg for the coating.
10 -
Sprinkle your sugar mix all over the buttery bread. Flip it around to make sure you cover every side.
