Delicious Sweet and Sour Chicken (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ For the Sauce

01 - 1 cup granulated sugar
02 - 1/4 cup ketchup
03 - 1/2 cup white vinegar
04 - 1 tablespoon soy sauce
05 - 1 teaspoon onion powder
06 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder

→ For the Chicken

07 - 1/2 cup cornstarch
08 - Salt and pepper, as you like
09 - 2 large eggs, whisked
10 - 1/3 cup cooking oil
11 - 1 pound chicken breasts, diced into small chunks

# Instructions:

01 - Set your oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease a baking dish lightly to prevent sticking.
02 - Sprinkle salt and pepper over the chicken cubes. Dip each chicken piece into cornstarch, then dunk it into the beaten eggs to get a good coating.
03 - Use a skillet and heat the oil on medium-high heat. Fry the chicken pieces in small batches until they’re golden on the outside (about 2-3 minutes each side). They don’t need to be fully cooked yet.
04 - In a medium-sized bowl, combine the sugar, white vinegar, ketchup, garlic powder, onion powder, and soy sauce. Whisk it all together until smooth.
05 - Place the fried chicken in the baking dish you prepped earlier. Pour the sauce over the chicken, making sure it’s all covered. Put it in the oven for an hour, stirring every 15 minutes. This helps thicken the sauce and coat the chicken evenly.

# Notes:

01 - Give the chicken a stir every 15 minutes while baking so everything gets coated well.
02 - You can switch out chicken breasts for thighs if you prefer juicier meat.
03 - Leftovers keep fine in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Use low heat on the stovetop or oven to warm them back up.
