Toss the strawberries, sugar, and balsamic vinegar in a small bowl. Stir everything together until it’s combined well.

Leave the bowl aside for about 5 minutes. This gives the strawberries time to soften and soak up the flavors. You can even refrigerate it ahead of time in a sealed container.

Toast your slices in a toaster or brown them in a pan until they’re nice and crunchy.

Take a knife and evenly coat each toast slice with a layer of cream cheese, about 1-2 tablespoons per slice.

Give the strawberry mixture a quick stir first. Spoon plenty of the juicy strawberries over the cream cheese layer on each toast.

Add a few fresh basil leaves on top of each finished toast. Dig in while it’s fresh and still crisp!
