01 - 1 1/2 tablespoons granulated sugar
02 - 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
03 - 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
04 - 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
05 - 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
06 - 2 tablespoons warm water, divided, at 110°F
07 - 1/2 cup warm water, divided, at 110°F
08 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, thinly sliced
09 - 1 egg yolk, lightly beaten

10 - 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted, divided
11 - 8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
12 - 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
13 - 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
14 - 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
15 - marinara sauce, for serving

# Directions:

01 - In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast in half of the warmed water (at 110°F) and allow it to stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
02 - Place the thinly sliced butter, granulated sugar, and kosher salt in a large bowl. Pour the remaining warm water over the mixture and let stand while the yeast is activating.
03 - After 5 minutes, whisk the softened butter mixture until partially combined. Add the lightly beaten egg yolk and the activated yeast mixture to the bowl.
04 - Stir in the all-purpose flour until just combined and a dough is formed. Do not overmix.
05 - Brush a 9 x 13 inch baking dish with 2 tablespoons of melted unsalted butter to coat thoroughly.
06 - Evenly distribute the dough in the prepared dish. Cover with plastic wrap and let rest for 15 minutes to allow the dough to relax.
07 - Set oven to 350°F (177°C) and allow to preheat while the dough is resting.
08 - Remove plastic wrap, brush the dough surface with the remaining melted butter. Sprinkle evenly with shredded mozzarella, grated parmesan, garlic salt, and dried oregano.
09 - Bake in the preheated oven for 28 to 31 minutes, or until the edges are deeply golden and cheese is bubbling.
10 - Allow cheese sticks to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then slice into 8 uniform portions.
11 - Serve warm, accompanied by marinara sauce for dipping.
