Brats oven-braised in beer and caramelized onions for a flavorful and hearty main dish.

# What You'll Need:

01 - 6 bratwurst sausages
02 - 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
03 - 2 garlic cloves, minced

04 - 1 tablespoon olive oil
05 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
06 - 355 millilitres beer (pilsner or lager)
07 - 240 millilitres beef broth

→ Seasonings and Garnish

08 - 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
09 - Salt, to taste
10 - Black pepper, to taste
11 - Fresh parsley, chopped, optional for garnish

# Directions:

01 - Set the oven to 180°C.
02 - In a large oven-safe skillet or Dutch oven, heat olive oil and unsalted butter over medium heat until melted.
03 - Add sliced onions and cook for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until deeply golden and softened.
04 - Stir in minced garlic and sauté for an additional 2 minutes until fragrant.
05 - Arrange bratwurst sausages amongst the caramelized onions in the skillet.
06 - Pour in the beer and beef broth, then stir in the Dijon mustard. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
07 - Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
08 - Transfer the uncovered skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 30 to 40 minutes, until the bratwursts are fully cooked and flavours melded.
09 - Serve bratwursts hot, spooning caramelized onions and sauce over the top. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
