Nutella Puff Pastry Hearts (Print View)

Golden puff pastry hearts with creamy Nutella filling, perfect for sharing or a sweet treat.

# What You'll Need:

→ For the Pastry

01 - 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed if frozen
02 - 1/2 cup Nutella or other chocolate-hazelnut spread
03 - 1 large egg
04 - 1 tablespoon water

→ For Garnish

05 - Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
06 - Fresh berries, for serving (optional)
07 - Whipped cream, for serving (optional)

# Directions:

01 - Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
02 - Unroll the puff pastry sheet onto a clean, lightly floured surface. Ensure the pastry is at room temperature to prevent cracking. Using a heart-shaped cookie cutter or knife, cut at least 6 heart shapes, gathering and re-rolling scraps as needed.
03 - Arrange the pastry hearts on the prepared baking sheet. Refrigerate for 10 minutes to help them hold their shape during baking.
04 - Remove the chilled pastry hearts from the refrigerator. Spread approximately 1 tablespoon of Nutella in the center of half of the heart shapes, leaving a border along the edge. Top each filled piece with another heart-shaped pastry, pressing the edges together to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for decoration and security.
05 - In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and 1 tablespoon water to create an egg wash. Brush the tops of each assembled heart with egg wash for a glossy, golden finish.
06 - Bake on the middle rack of the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, or until the pastries are puffed and deep golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking sheet for several minutes.
07 - Optionally, dust pastries with powdered sugar and serve with fresh berries or whipped cream, if desired.

# Notes:

01 - Chilling the shaped puff pastry before baking helps the hearts keep their shape and ensures maximum flakiness.
