Green Crinkle Treats (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Cookie Dough

01 - Box of white cake mix (15.25 ounces, roughly 3 cups)
02 - 1/3 cup of vegetable oil
03 - Two large eggs
04 - A small dab of Kelly green gel food coloring (1/4 teaspoon)

→ Coating

05 - 6 tablespoons of powdered sugar
06 - 3 tablespoons of white granulated sugar

# Instructions:

01 - Mix the cake mix, eggs, and vegetable oil together in a big bowl. Use a spatula to mash it all together until it's sticky and combined.
02 - Add the green gel food coloring and stir like crazy until the dough is all the same cool shade of green.
03 - Wrap the bowl with some plastic wrap and pop it in the fridge for half an hour. Chilling makes the dough firmer and easier to handle.
04 - Turn on your oven to heat up to 350°F (175°C). Throw some parchment paper onto a cookie sheet so things don’t stick.
05 - Grab two small bowls. Fill one with the granulated sugar and the other with powdered sugar, setting up your coating stations.
06 - Scoop out tablespoon-sized chunks of dough, roll them into balls with your hands, cover them in granulated sugar first, then powdered sugar.
07 - Set the sugar-covered dough balls on the cookie sheet, leaving a couple of inches between each one so they’ve got room to spread out.
08 - Let the cookies bake anywhere from 9 to 12 minutes, just until they’re firm on top but still soft in the middle.
09 - Leave the cookies on the sheet for about five minutes to cool, then move them to a wire rack or paper towel until they’re totally cooled off.
10 - Keep the cooled cookies in an airtight container so they stay fresh longer.

# Notes:

01 - Bright green treats that are a hit for St. Patty’s Day or anytime you want some fun colors on your table!
02 - The sugar layers crack as they bake, making a cool pattern where the green stands out against the white.
03 - Gel food color gives brighter hues without making your dough watery, so it’s a better choice than liquid color.
04 - Stored in an airtight container, these cookies will stay in good shape for around five days at room temperature.
