Easy Apple Tuna Salad (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Fresh Produce

01 - 1 ripe avocado, peeled and chopped into chunks
02 - 1 medium-sized Granny Smith apple, diced and seeds removed
03 - 1 onion (about 1 1/3 cups), chopped finely

→ Protein & Nuts

04 - 4 small cans (5 oz per can) of tuna packed in water, drained thoroughly
05 - 1/2 cup of crushed walnuts or slivered almonds

→ Dressing

06 - About 3/4 cup of mayonnaise, adjust to taste
07 - 1/8 teaspoon of black pepper, or more if preferred
08 - Freshly squeezed juice from 1/2 a lemon (around 1/2 teaspoon), add more if needed

# Instructions:

01 - Throw the nuts into a dry pan on medium heat. Stir occasionally until they start looking golden brown and smell fragrant. Once done, leave them aside to cool.
02 - Open those tuna cans and press the lid down firmly to drain as much water as possible. This step is crucial to avoid a watery salad.
03 - In a large mixing bowl, combine the tuna, apple chunks, diced onion, and avocado pieces. Add the mayo, a bit of lemon juice, and a few shakes of black pepper. Toss in the cooled toasted nuts, then stir everything gently to mix.

# Notes:

01 - Be sure to squeeze out all the liquid from the tuna—this helps keep the salad from turning soggy.
02 - This dish tastes best if eaten the same day—avocados tend to brown after 24 hours.
