Toss frozen berries into a small pot with syrup and vanilla over gentle heat. Cook until they turn soft and jam-like. Smash them with a fork or masher to speed things up.

Put jumbo oats, water, and salt in another pot. Let it bubble on high heat, then turn down to medium-low. Cook for 5–8 minutes, stirring now and then to break down oats until they're thick and the water's gone.

Beat your egg(s) in a bowl until they're all mixed up.

Take oats off the heat. Mix in the cold milk and keep stirring for a minute until it soaks in. This helps cool everything down a bit.

Pour the beaten egg(s) into the oats in a thin stream while stirring non-stop. Put back on low heat and cook for about a minute until it gets a bit thicker but stays smooth.

Scoop the creamy oats into bowls and spoon the berry mix on top. Add whatever extra toppings you want.
