Caramel Apple Dump Cake (Print View)

Apples, caramel, and buttery cake mix bake into a sweet golden treat. Enjoy warm with ice cream.

# What You'll Need:

→ Fresh Apple Layer

01 - 5 to 6 medium Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples, peeled and sliced
02 - 1/2 cup granulated sugar
03 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
04 - 1 tablespoon lemon juice

→ Canned Apple Option

05 - 1 can (20 ounces) apple pie filling

→ Caramel and Topping

06 - 1 jar (11 ounces) caramel sauce
07 - 1 box (15.25 ounces) yellow cake mix
08 - 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
09 - 1/4 cup chopped pecans
10 - vanilla ice cream
11 - whipped cream

# Directions:

01 - Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
02 - If using fresh apples, in a large bowl combine sliced apples with granulated sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Toss to evenly coat and spread mixture in the prepared baking dish. If using canned apples, pour apple pie filling directly into the dish and spread evenly.
03 - Drizzle caramel sauce evenly over the apple layer. Optionally, sprinkle with additional cinnamon for extra flavor.
04 - Sprinkle the entire box of yellow cake mix evenly over the caramel and apple layers, or layer half underneath and half on top for added texture.
05 - Pour the melted butter evenly over the surface of the cake mix. Alternatively, scatter thin slices of cold butter on top. Sprinkle chopped pecans over the mixture if desired.
06 - Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crisp and the filling is bubbling around the edges.
07 - Let cool for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm, topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream as preferred.

# Notes:

01 - Layering the cake mix and caramel in stages creates a distinct textural contrast and prevents overly dense spots.
